Today I Ran

Course: Jackson Heights Salvation Army Loop
Distance: 5.5 miles

Felt really tired on this run. I'm wondering if I'm getting enough carbohydrates in my diet. All the Atkins low/no-carb propaganda has me consuming much fewer carbs than I used to, but now I'm learning that people engaged in endurance exercises like distance running should be getting at least 70% of their calories from carbohydrates, because most of of our calories are burned at an elevated heart rate which comes mostly from carbs stored in our muscles in the form of glycogen. So, if you don't replenish your glycogen store, then you get tired from physical exertion much more quickly.

Hooray! More carbs!
